S 32 SPVNL from thonet
Thonet’s S 32 cantilever chair (artistic copyright: Mart Stam) is one of the most popular and recognisable pieces of tubular steel furniture and a versatile design icon for a variety of settings and styles.
The S 32 Lounge brings together architectural lines, a distinct design and yielding comfort. The springiness of its tubular steel construction is a key part of what makes it so comfortable. This new design combines the typical characteristics of a cantilever chair with all of the features of a lounge chair. To further enhance the chair’s ergonomics, the seat has been widened (58 cm) and is tilted slightly backwards.
The S 32 Lounge chair does not have armrests, creating a relaxed atmosphere with no obvious barriers to communication, wherever it is used. The seat height of 40 cm makes the chair the perfect partner for sofas, with the added advantage of being lighter and more compact than an upholstered armchair. Occupying minimal space, the tubular steel frame creates a transparent, open and airy impression.
As well as being the perfect addition to a relaxing lounge area, the S 32 Lounge chair can be used as a statement piece in coworking breakout spaces, elegant reception areas or stylishly designed private homes.
In the version S 32 SPVL shown here, the seat has a comfortable full upholstery that can be produced in various fabrics and leathers. The upholstery is accentuated by a decorative seam, which can optionally be executed as piping, cross stitching or double stitching.
