D35-1 from tecta
A newspaper and a glass of wine: the cantilever chair designed by Anton Lorenz is an elegant and cosy seat that offers relaxation from everyday life.
Tecta took up the idea and developed it further in its workshops in Lauenförde. The proportions have been refined, the design improved and the kinetic movement function added. An almost invisible intervention: without any visible technology, just by moving and shifting the body, the Be-seater can move continuously from an upright sitting position to a relaxed reclining position. Marcel Breuer's ‘dream of weightless sitting’ comes within reach with this armchair.
The hand-woven seat and the frame with its timeless lines can be coordinated in different materials and colour combinations.
The new Oeko-Tex materials from TECTA are durable, skin-friendly and hard-wearing. Wickerwork materials that combine look and feel and epitomise Gropius' desire to see “art and technology” as a new unit. The tension between warm wickerwork and cool steel, between aesthetics and technology - this is what characterises the Tecta wickerwork collections. And also the two new wicker materials that combine functionality and aesthetics.
Each seat shell is woven by hand in Lauenförde. The other materials are also exclusively ‘Made in Germany’: the durable and tear-resistant polypropylene weave is made exclusively for Tecta in a medium-sized company in the Sauerland region. The cantilever precision steel tubes are manufactured in Upper Franconia by specialised metalworkers. The result is a chair that is traditionally manufactured but equipped with contemporary comfort.

Tecta is a furniture company based in German Lower Saxony. With the protection and innovative continuation of original Bauhaus models they selected a very prominent field of activity and a very fastidious one. Released by the avant-garde of the 1920s as an risky venture in small-scale production, Tecta managed it exclusively to produce in larger scales today. This has been authorized officially by the Bauhaus archive in Berlin. So Tecta belongs to the leading names when it comes to Bauhaus furniture.
