B20 from tecta
“The future was suddenly visible!” Visible and condensed in a chair that followed El Lissitzky’s vision of “floating and flying”, without the need for four legs. The cantilever chair. A piece of furniture with a bent frame that makes those seeking relaxation almost feel they can fly. 40 years ago, Tecta started collaborating with Mart Stam, Marcel Breuer and Jean Prouvé to update this construction without back legs. Today, Tecta’s cantilever chair is a classic, icon and trademark.
The comfortable, stackable cantilever chair B20 from Tecta's Kragstuhl® family is manufactured by hand and is available in the standard version with a chrome-plated or black lacquered tubular steel frame. Optionally, the chair can be supplied with a stainless steel frame or painted in special RAL colours.
The new Ökotex materials from TECTA are durable, skin-friendly and hard-wearing. Wicker materials that combine look and feel and epitomise Gropius' desire to see "art and technology" as a new unit. The tension between warm wickerwork and cool steel, between aesthetics and technology - this is what characterises the Tecta wickerwork collections. And also the two new wicker materials that combine functionality and aesthetics.
Its ergonomically shaped backrest and free-swinging construction with elastic Tecta wickerwork create a harmonious relationship between form and function. For even greater seating comfort, the cantilever chair can be fitted with a matching seat upholstery, which is available as an optional accessory and can be retrofitted at any time.
The frame owes its particular stability to Jean Prouvé's idea of the "tube aplati"; by flattening the steel tubes, the frame proves to be robust and durable even in places subject to high loads. The seating comfort is further enhanced by the slight suspension of the frame.
Each cantilever chair is certified and marked with the Tecta logo and date of manufacture on the underside.

Tecta is a furniture company based in German Lower Saxony. With the protection and innovative continuation of original Bauhaus models they selected a very prominent field of activity and a very fastidious one. Released by the avant-garde of the 1920s as an risky venture in small-scale production, Tecta managed it exclusively to produce in larger scales today. This has been authorized officially by the Bauhaus archive in Berlin. So Tecta belongs to the leading names when it comes to Bauhaus furniture.
