AJ Eklipta Outdoor from Louis Poulsen

This wall lamp sets with their minimalistic, elegant appearance a discreet sign on the wall. The hand-blown, three-ply opal glass is formed for the Louis Poulsen AJ Eklipta that there is a absolutely consistent illumination when switched on. In the version offered here, the AJ Eklipta is also suitable for outdoor use. However, it may only be used as wall lighting and not on ceilings.

AJ Eklipta was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1959 for Rødovre Town Hall. Two different sizes were produced for this project – 350 mm and 450 mm. They were used indoors on stairways and outdoors as wall lamps. A 220 mm version was later designed for St. Catherine’s College in England. When Arne Jacobsen used the fixture himself on stairways he always preferred the largest model. The fixture is being used around the world today in a variety of architectural contexts.
