Hippo from Kay Bojesen Denmark
The Hippo was born in 1955 as a fun desktop item for managing pencils. Kay Bojesen's imaginative family of wooden toys has a very special appeal for both children and adults. For christenings, birthdays, school leavers, anniversaries and weddings. A classic and a dear friend for life – from being a popular toy in the playroom to a much-loved design icon in a future home.
The second variant is made of beech, painted with blackboard paint, so you can write messages, little notes or use it as a desktop checklist. To make it easier to write on, this hippo is approximately 2 cm taller and wider than the one currently in the range. The white chalk is provided in the box.
Like all animals from the Kay Bojesen Denmark collection the hippo is a collector's item. The animals which have found many friends worldwide find their place in cabinets and shelves not only in children's rooms but also in the home or office.
Kay Bojesen Denmark
Kay Bojesen was a Danish designer, specializes in wooden toys. World famous are his wooden animals, but also his cutlery and crockery. With his paternal attitude, unyielding optimism and mantra that good design should be personal, warm and lively, Kay Bojesen could never be described as stiff as wood, quite the contrary! And yet, throughout his life, wood was his preferred medium, and the breadth of Kay Bojesen’s work is vast: from puffins and songbirds to rabbits and cool monkeys.
