The reserved beauty of color gradients

Degrade is the latest contribution by Patricia Urquiola to GAN’s collection of hand-knotted rugs. Sober and elegant, these rugs play with color and intermediate tones, demonstrating the expertise that characterizes the designer. The new Degrade rugs manage to enhance, with subtlety and quality, any interior design project. The beige and gray dual tone rug from the Degrade collection, a design by Patricia Urquiola in which the hand-knotting technique is essential to achieve a smooth transition from one color to another. It is a simple design, based solely on a color gradient. However, its subtle evolution from one tone to another, without striping or sharp differences, requires a delicate and thoroughly manual manufacturing process.

This piece works well on any type of flooring, but thanks to its coloring it is especially indicated on dark floors that could use a little brightness. The Degrade series also includes the Petrol-Wine model, which features a gradient that goes from wine tones to petroleum blue. Both are available in three sizes and are made entirely with 100% virgin wool.
