Swan™ from Fritz Hansen
The Swan™ and the Egg were both designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the lobby and lounge areas in the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. These two original designer chairs originated in Jacobsen's own garage in his home in Klampenborg north of Copenhagen and have been in production by Fritz Hansen ever since. In 1958 the Swan™ was a technologically innovative chair: No straight lines - only curves. A moulded shell of synthetic material on an aluminium star swivel base with a layer of cold foam covering the shell upholstered in fabric of leather. The Swan™ in 2008 - a collector's item: In 2008 we introduced a new variety of the Swan™ - the Swan™ as a desk chair, i.e. with increased height for exclusive conference rooms and dining rooms. The limited number of Swan™ are upholstered in soft white leather, and the base is polished in a mother of pearl finish.
