Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris, known as Le Corbusier was born on 06.10.1887 in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland). After training as a painter, engraver and goldsmith, he takes on an architecture degree, later working in the leading architectural firms in Europe and gets a chair at the School of Art in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Le Corbusier is based inter alia the magazine "L'Esprit Nouveau", works as an architect, furniture designer and urban planner. In addition to individual buildings such as the Stuttgart "Weißenhofsiedlung" and Villa Savoye Le Corbusier was interested in urban planning concepts. Le Corbusier died on 27.08.1965. He is now considered one of the most important and influential architects of the 20th Century.
