Kathrin & Mark Patel

Opposites attract, as we all know. And give rise to a field of tension that makes creative ideas sprout. This is the case with the Bremen designer duo Kathrin and Mark Patel. One is impulsive and extroverted, the other thoughtful and strategic. Two contrasting characters who complement each other perfectly. Mark studied graphic design, Kathrin is a textile designer and was creative director at carpet specialist Object Carpet before founding her own studio with her husband. By looking at things from different angles, new levels of communication open up for the duo.

This results in designs that are not only surprisingly different and break away from familiar contexts, but also appeal to deeper, emotional layers in the viewer. This can be seen beautifully in the collections they have developed together for Objekt Carpet in recent years.
