Picturesque towns, outstanding natural beauty, a wealth of arts and crafts: the illustrious past of the natural and cultural treasures of the province of Siena still shines through today. Even the region’s original inhabitants, the Etruscans, made a name for themselves as skilled artisans and inventors, and the “Italian Bohemia” is still home to Tuscany’s oldest glass grinding shops and glass factories today. Right at home in the heart of this inspiring cultural landscape, in Colle di Val d’Elsa, is the architecture firm Archirivolto.

When its designers set out to create a chair for de Sede, they took inspiration from their region’s rich heritage. Their vision was to create an iconic piece of furniture that conveyed de Sede’s artisanal background – a classic sculpture that at the same time stood out for its first-class comfort. The resulting innovation is like sitting on a cloud that encapsulates Archirivolto’s know-how in a contemporary piece of furniture.

To achieve this, materials were used that accentuate the uncompromising comfort: the incomparably soft upholstery with its characteristic, quilted compartments was brought to life by the artisanal skill of the de Sede master upholsterers.

“A handcrafted hi-tech cloudlike chair” is how the designers at Archirivolto described their latest design for de Sede. With its distinctive compartments, it looks so cosy that you just want to sink into it, as if into a cloud, and surrender yourself fully to the ceaseless snugness of its substance.

Not only the distinctive shape and uncompromising quality of its artisanal design catch the eye but also the comfort of the seat thanks to its excellent ergonomic design that guarantees good posture. The chair is available with or without armrests, swivelling or stackable and it will blend in perfectly whether in a home or office environment.

In the DS-525/55 version offered here, Tosca is designed as a bar stool without armrests. Tosca is also available as a bar chair with armrests.
