“Fluffy,” as the DS-144 lounge chair is lovingly named by designer Werner Aisslinger, stands for a hard shell with a surprisingly soft core.

The basic idea that inspired the designer was the play of contrasts. In contrast to the streamlined linear structure of the outer shell with its varied ensemble in the form of a soft padding, he wanted to provide an artistic and artisanal representation of the multifaceted appearance of the seat.

Aisslinger devised the structure typical for DS-144: with its dual shell construction, the lounge chair became a constructive, high-tech product that sensitively embraces the person seated the way a racing car would, guaranteeing the ultimate character of relaxation.
