Utrecht from Cassina
Strict geometric forms and a restriction on the primary colours red, blue and yellow are the trademarks of designer Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, and are also basically of the design of the chair Utrecht. The cubic forms are still highlighted with contrasting white stitching. Cover in fabric or leather selectable, padding in polyurethane foam with polyester fiber. The supporting steel structure ensures the stability of the chair, which can be combined with a sofa with rounded seat and in a new version as 2-seater and a 3-seater sofa with cubic seat.

Founded by Cesare and Umberto Cassina in Meda in 1927, the company launched industrial design in Italy during the 50’s by taking a completely new approach which saw a shift from handcraftsmanship to serial production. The company was pioneering in the way that it showed a striking inclination for research and innovation, combining technological skill with traditional craftsmanship.
