LC Ginori Plates (Collektion Chandigarh) from Cassina
Cassina in collaboration with Ginori 1735 and the Le Corbusier Foundation
Cassina takes its inspiration from the genius of Le Corbusier for a collection of three trays in pure, unglazed porcelain. These trays borrow some of the bas-relief symbols chosen for the walls of the buildings of Chandigarh, the city designed in the 1950s and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The same procedure can be seen in Marseille in the Unité d’Habitation on the sculptures moulées, symbolic designs embedded by Le Corbusier in the concrete – béton brut – taken from his figurative portfolio. Each tray, made by Ginori 1735, includes a design sketched by the Master in 1956: the open hand symbolising peace (square tray with rounded corners), the fish (round tray), the movement of the sun (rectangular tray).
Care instructions
Unglazed ceramic is the result of the first firing in the kiln. It has a porous surface, as it is not glazed in further firing processes in the kiln, and therefore absorbs any liquids that are on its surface.
We recommend the use of a soft, dry cloth for dusting
It is expressly pointed out that the product is not suitable for food. It should also be noted that contact with oil, acids and organic materials that could be absorbed by the surface of the product must be avoided.
To remove stains, we recommend using lukewarm water with a neutral detergent or a small amount of white vinegar. As the surface is porous, it will darken due to the absorption of liquids. We therefore recommend allowing the product to dry completely so that it regains its original colour.
Cassina
Founded by Cesare and Umberto Cassina in Meda in 1927, the company launched industrial design in Italy during the 50’s by taking a completely new approach which saw a shift from handcraftsmanship to serial production. The company was pioneering in the way that it showed a striking inclination for research and innovation, combining technological skill with traditional craftsmanship. For the first time important architects and designers were involved and encouraged to envision new designs to be transformed into projects, a characteristic that still distinguishes the company. Today Cassina continues to represent new ways of living, creating complete and harmonious settings that bring together the best of design for each area of the home.
