EK61 Opal from Carl Hansen

With the EK61 Opal pendant light, the Danish architect and cabinetmaker Esben Klint joins the group of renowned designers at Carl Hansen & Søn. The EK61 is dimensioned in such a way that it is suitable for many modern rooms and requirements and can be placed alone or in a group. The EK61 Opal pendant lamp combines proven wood craftsmanship and traditional glass-blowing techniques.

A modern classic
The EK61 Opal pendant light was designed in 1961 but never went into production. It is now being launched on the market for the first time in a glass and wood version. Originally made of pleated plastic, the elegant pendant light was designed by Esben Klint, the son of the famous Danish designer Kaare Klint. However, because it was too complicated to manufacture at the time, its design has since disappeared into the family archive.

The current, modern version is made of mouth-blown, pleated opal glass in an elliptical shape. The distinctive oak wood details, carefully turned and sanded by hand, give the luminaire a classic expression reminiscent of traditional Chinese lanterns. The EK61 is available in three sizes and emits a soft, indirect light thanks to the carefully combined classic materials.

The luminaire has a cable with a wire core and fabric sheath with a length of 3 metres. The standard ceiling suspension is included in the scope of delivery.
